Whitehall – Barton Thomas Cuomo, 63, passed away Wednesday July 5, 2017 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with kidney cancer. Born to parents Thomas Cuomo & Grace Barton  (predeceased) on April 11, 1954, Bart built a successful business and raised a loving family in his hometown of Whitehall, New York. Bart married his “sweetie pie” Jeannie Carey, (who cared for his tirelessly) on September 1, 1974. They shared forty-three blessed years together.

Bart was a shark amongst men. He fearlessly helped start & operate his family business Champlain Beef Co. Inc. at the young age of 15. Bart’s true grit & determination day after day contributed to this success and he loved what he did with great pride. He knew anything & everything about cows, truck driving, and running a business. He left a lasting impression with everyone he met with his loud voice, sense of humor, and no nonsense attitude. He loved to work alongside his brother Jeff, Son Josh, and Father Tom everyday; their bond was- and is everlasting.

He enjoyed giving his grandson rides on his farming equipment and watching his grandchildren run around the house laughing and playing. Cattle Auctions & playing cards with his buddies was his favorite pastime. He cherished going for rides on the weekends with his wife, trying new restaurants, going to the movies, or taking in the back road scenery he knew so well. His dog Gage will miss his “one for you - one for me” snack. He was a selfless & devoted man, giving everything to his family asking very little in return.

Bart is predeceased by his mother, Grace Barton Cuomo. He is survived by; Children Josh (Heather) Cuomo, Grace (Seth) Durfee, Shannon (Jared) Mowatt. Grandchildren Rylie Cuomo, Quinn and Wyatt Durfee, Thea, Lark and Aiden Mowatt. He will be profoundly missed & forever in our hearts.

Calling hours will be held for Bart from 1pm to 3pm and 6pm to 8pm, on Sunday July 9, 2017 at the Jillson funeral Home Inc. 46 Williams Street, Whitehall New York.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held  at 11:00am on Monday July 10, 2017 at the Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church in Whitehall with Rev. Rendell Torres Pastor officiating.  A Rite of Christian Burial will take place in the Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Whitehall following the Mass.
