Dresden-Edward C Rehm, Sr., 87, passed away on January 14 at his home in Dresden, NY.

Edward was born on April 7, 1930 to the late Edna Hyatt and Harold Rehm. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his beloved wife Ella May Wilbur, infant son Carl Edward, grandson Michael Rehm, three brothers, and two sisters.

Edward is survived by a large family and many friends. He and Ella had 7 daughters and 2 sons. They have a total of 27 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. We have decided to forego seeing our names in print to tell you about Dad.

Us siblings all agree that our Dad was the consummate family man. Our proof of that could fill a book or several books. Our Dad loved to travel, and he and Mom took us to many places across the United States and Canada. Some of them, places that we knew we wanted to go back to someday but never have. When we were kids, Dad always carried a five-dollar bill in his wallet. I once asked him if he ever spent that five dollars on himself. His answer: “No, never once. I always saved it until your Mom needed it for groceries or bills.” Of course, five dollars went a lot further all those years ago.

He was a man of many talents and abilities. He was first rate at whatever he done. To name a few, he was a builder, a plumber, an electrician, a landscaper, an auto mechanic, a logger, and a welder. He was a master gardener and grew beautiful plants, flowers, vegetables, and fruit. Edward was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 60 years. He was an active preacher of the Bible’s good news for a better future for the earth and for mankind. He also taught the Bible truths to any who wanted to learn. When his beloved Ella May died almost 5 years ago, he held onto the Bible hope found at Job chapter 14. He believed in God’s promise that the dead will live again. Job inquired: “If a man dies, can he live again?” Knowing of God’s promises, Job concludes:  You will call, and I will answer you.”

A memorial service will be held on January 20, 2018 at 1 pm at the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah’s Witness, 168 Beckwith Road, Whitehall, NY 12887
