Leonard “Pete” Alden Griffin passed away on October 7, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his loved ones following a long and courageous battle with Leukemia. 

Leonard was born on July 15, 1943 in Fort Edward, NY to the late Hiram and Irma (Rich) Griffin. 

Growing up in Whitehall, Pete enjoyed all things outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, tending to his beloved horse, Zeus.  Pete enjoyed motorcycle rides with his son, Walter, taking his grandchildren for rides, driving around visiting his many friends, having a quiet evening at home playing Yahtzee and “Stupid” with his wife and family. He spent countless hours at the hunting camp.  Pete was a story-teller with his famous “listen to me” speeches.  He spoke with such affirmation and confidence that only a good ol’ boy could have.  On December 1st 1995, he married his “baby” Sally Ross Griffin having spent 26 years together they have enjoyed a life filled with never-ending love.

Pete retired from Finch Pruyn paper mill in 2002. At the time of his death he was employed at Hubbardton Forge in Castleton, VT where he loved to socialize and do a little work, with his "BFF" Scott Ray. 

Besides his parents, Pete was predeceased by his sister Betty and his brothers Walter and Melvin.  

Pete is survived by his wife Sally, his sister Joyce (Paul) Brazier, his brother Hiram, his children Walter (Debbie) Griffin, Melvin Griffin, Brenda (Fred) Blanchard, Jodi LaLone, Chelsey (Scott) McLaughlin, and Amber Gandrow; his grandchildren Stephanie, Zac, Liannaea, Donald, Aiden, Bryce, Emma, Patrick, Liam, Sylas, and Coraline; his great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and his nephew Scottie with whom he shared special relationship.

At Pete’s request there will be no services.
