Whitehall- Alan E. Trevellyan Sr. "Perch-I", 86, of Boardman Street passed away on July 15, 2018 at the Slate Valley Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in North Granville, New York. Perch was born in Whitehall on May 25, 1932 to the late Weldron and Irene (Wilson) Trevellyan.
He was a graduate of Whitehall High School, Class of 1949. After graduation Perch-I entered the Air Force and served in the Korean War. Upon returning from service to his Country he married Cornelia (Mahar), they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this October.
He worked for General Electric in Fort Edward before beginning a career with the New York State Department of Corrections as a Correction Officer, retiring in 1993 after 33 years of service at the Great Meadow Correctional Facility.
Perch-I was a dedicated father and most certainly a perfect grandfather. He spent many hours with his wife taking care of their grandchildren while their parents were working. They were his pride and joy.
Prior to his retirement he was an avid runner, and cyclist and could be seen running around town pushing one of his grandchildren in a jogging stroller.
He spent many hours on the golf course at Skene Valley Country Club playing golf and cribbage with friends. He often was heard bragging about his hole in one to his friends.
Perch was a communicant of the Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church in Whitehall where he was an usher for many years. He was a member of the Whitehall American Legion Post 83, and a life member of the Whitehall BPO Elks 1491.
Besides his parents he is predeceased by his son Alan Trevellyan Jr, and his sister Elaine Stone.
He is survived by his wife Cornelia (Connie) Trevellyan, daughter, Suzanne Trevellyan of Watervliet; son Brian Trevellyan (Anne) of Phoenix, AZ; daughter Kathleen Putorti (Michael) of Whitehall; daughter-in-law Stacey Trevellyan of Whitehall. Grandchildren, Kirk and Mackenzie Trevellyan; Patrick, Molly and Ian Trevellyan (Emma); Elyse Moran (Edwin), Allie Putorti. Great Grandchildren Colin, Carter and Kaylan Trevellyan. Sisters, Mae Wescott (Richard) and Ellen Durant (Jim) and several nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to the staff at the Slate Valley Center for their care and kindness. Also to all of those who sent many cards. They made him smile each and every time he received one.
