Clara M. (Tooley) Senecal

WHITEHALL — Clara M. Senecal, 83, beloved wife of Paul J. Senecal, passed away on October 30, 2017 in her sleep of natural causes at her home on Buckley Road in Whitehall.

Clara was born in Granville (Raceville), the daughter of the late S. Leroy Tooley and Alice Jordan Tooley. She graduated from Whitehall High School in 1952.

Before her marriage, she was employed by JJ Sullivan Hardware.

On October 26, 1952 in the Salem Methodist Church, she married the love of her life, Paul.

In 1954, she joined her husband in Mobile, Alabama, where she became employed by Albright ood as an office employee, while her husband was employed by the US Dept. of Agriculture. They traveled all through the eastern half of the United States until Clara became ill in 1962 and they decided to return to Whitehall.

She gained immediate employment at the Chaffe Lumber Company and then on to become a partner in CBS Inc. in Bomoseen, Vermont until her retirement in 1992.

She always assisted her husband in the operation of Paul’s Mobil Station in Poultney, Vermont until 1989, at which time they moved to Lakeland, Florida for the winters.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her son, Gary Senecal, grandson Joseph B. Ray Jr., great grandson, Brayden C. Ray, and sister, Marilyn Brileya.

Clara leaves behind her loving husband, Paul Senecal, her son, Dale Senecal, her daughter, Debbie Pecue and her husband, Roy, a sister, Pat Tierney and husband, Tom, her Aunt Marguerite Tooley, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and cousins.

Family and friends may call at the Jillson Funeral Home Inc., 46 Williams Street, Whitehall, from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Nov. 3. Following the visitation, there will be a prayer service at the funeral home by the Rev. Scott Rogers, pastor of the Whitehall United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will follow the service in the Elmwood Cemetery in Middle Granville. Following the interment, family and friends and invited to a time of fellowship and refreshments at the home of Paul an Clara on Buckley Road.
