Elizabeth (Betty) L. (Lortie) Ward

Whitehall/Hudson Falls-Elizabeth (Betty) Ward, 82, of the Boulevard, Hudson Falls, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the Slate Valley Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Granville.

Born on June 14, 1935 in Whitehall she was the daughter of the late Norman and Gladys (Whalen) Lortie.

Betty married Jack Ward on May 19, 1957 in the Notre Dame des Victoires Church in Whitehall.

She began working for the Whitehall Central School District in 1956 as the school treasurer and remained there until her retirement in 1994.  She is a past member of the Court McLaughlin Catholic Daughters of American Court 596.

Betty enjoyed shopping and going out with the girls and spending time with her nieces and nephews.  Jack and Betty enjoyed their many trips to Maine during the summers.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Jack who passed away on December 25, 2011, and two brothers Leon Lortie and Norman Lortie.

Survivors include her daughter Nancy Greenberg and her husband Doctor Robert Greenberg of Danville, CA, her son John Ward Jr. of Hudson Falls.  Three Grandchildren; Scott Greenberg of Massachusetts, Abby Greenberg of Oregon and Jeffrey Greenberg of Colorado.  Three special nieces; Karen Martel, Debra Carswell, Bethney Lortie Denno and other nieces and nephews.  Special Great nephews and great niece; Mark Carswell of Elmira, NY, McCabe Denno, Branson Denno and Piper Denno and several other great nieces and great nephews.

Family and Friends may call from 6pm-8pm on Sunday April 22, 2018 at the Jillson Funeral Home Inc. 46 Williams Street, Whitehall, NY   A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00am on Monday April 23, 2018 at the Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church with the Reverend Rendell Torres Pastor Officiating.  Burial will be at a later date in the Greenmount Cemetery, Whitehal.
