Whitehall, NY - Donald (Duke) Goff, 85, a life-long resident of Whitehall, passed away with his family by his side on May 11, 2018. Donald was born in Whitehall on May 15, 1932 to John and Irene (Wood) Goff.
Donald is survived by his children: Donald Goff (Robin) of Kingsbury, Floranne Goff Hammond (Fred) of Bow, NH, Ronnie Goff (Julie) of Granville, and Kristianne Greenwood (Edward) of Whitehall; and three step-children Lori Holcomb of Whitehall, Betty Baker of Cambridge, and Tom Holcomb (Peggy) of St. Cloud, Florida. He is survived by two sisters Betty Miller, Cheyenne, WY and Theresa Mitchell, Hollywood, FL, and one brother Charles Goff (Mildred) of Ticonderoga. In addition, he is survived by 22 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren and several Great-Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by his special friend Ginny Currier for which his family greatly appreciated all that she did to make Dad’s days special.
Donald was predeceased by his wife Urlyn, son Aonald (onnie), daughter Diane Lynn, and grandsons Lee Herbst and Jake Rousse, and four brothers John, Ray, Edward and George Goff.
Donald worked at the Whitehall Silk Mill before going to working for the Washington County Highway Department. In 1994 Donald retired after 36 years working on the county.
Donald was a member of the Dick Ladd Square Dance Association, Larry Lambert New Country Fan Club, Northeast Association of Country Western Entertainers, and the Adirondack Fiddlers. He and his wife enjoyed camping and hanging out with friends. Donald was an avid ice fisherman - South Bay was his hot spot. His greatest joy was to have his large family and circle of friends to come for a visit and share a meal. Over the years, his house was the venue for many great gatherings for both his family and friends.
Family and friends may call at the Jillson Funeral Home Inc., 46 Williams Street, Whitehall, NY from 6PM to 8PM on Wednesday, May 16, 2018. A funeral service will be held at 1PM, Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the funeral home with the Local Supply Pastor Daniel W. Thompson of the Whitehall United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenmount Cemetery. Following the burial a time for reflections and refreshments will be held at the American Legion Post 83 on Main Street, Whitehall.
