Joseph "Dick" Lambert Obituary

Queensbury/Whitehall – Joseph R. “Dick” Lambert, 89, of Queensbury and Whitehall, NY passed away on March 14, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

He was born March 12, 1929 in Berlin, NH, the son of Emanuel and Jeannette Croteau Lambert. 

Dick proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp in WWII and the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Whitehall Lodge 1491 and a member of the Whitehall American Legion Post 83.  He worked as a Carpenter and Millwright when he returned home and was a member of the Carpenter’s Union. 

He moved to Whitehall, NY after the Service and met Joan Austin. They were united in marriage on Valentine’s Day 1972. They recently celebrated their 46th Wedding Anniversary this past February.     

He loved playing poker with Anna Case and the boys, going to the dog races in Vermont, and horse races in Saratoga Springs, NY.

In addition to his parents, Dick is predeceased by his brothers Francis Lambert and Clarence Murphy, and his sister, Anita Lambert Wheelock.  He is also predeceased by two sons, Michael and Dale Lambert.

Dick is the oldest of five generations with his daughter, Francine (Phil) Millett’s family.  Jason Lamarre (Lisa), his daughter, Caitlin Fabian, her children Phoenix and Owen Fabian, who came to visit him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joan (Austin) Lambert, his daughter, Francine (Phil) Millett, his step-daughter, Theresa Wilcox (Ricky) and grandson, Tyler Wilcox. He is also survived by Ronald Austin (Ruth Lorette) from Gansevoort, NY, Donald Austin (Deb) from Henderson, NV, Mary (Austin) Lieberman (Harry) from Queensbury, NY and four other children, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces.  

Family and friends may call from 11AM to 1PM on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Jillson Funeral Home, Inc. 46 Williams Street Whitehall, NY 12887. A service will be held at 1PM following the calling hours with the Rev. Rendell Torres, Pastor of the Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, officiating.

A Lodge of Sorrow will be conducted by the Whitehall Elks 1491 at 12:30PM followed by a Legionnaire’s Service conducted by the Whitehall American Legion Post 83 at 12:45PM. 

A graveside service will be held in the spring at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery with full Military Honors conducted by the Whitehall American Legion Post 83.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at the Saratoga Rehab Facility for their kindness and compassion.
