Joyce Bassett Obituary

Whitehall-Joyce Bassett. 89, of Whitehall passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 following a brief illness.

She was born on May 6, 1929 in Essex, NY she was the daughter of the late Fred and Ella (Stafford) Hood.

Joyce was a kind and gentle soul who always made time for everyone and will be sorely missed.  She love to go sightseeing, particularly around the many lakes in the Adirondacks.  She also never saw a sale that she didn’t like.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Dave Bassett, her sister Elsie Vaudron (Hood) of Saranac, NY, her beloved granddaughter Patti Bassett, and her good friends and companions in adventure, Lucy Leclaire and Tom Lamphere.

Left to cherish their memories of Joyce are her children, Lee Jordan and her husband Steven of Comstock, NY, Jeffry Bassett and his wife Diane (White) of Whitehall, grandsons, Jeremy Bassett and his wife Nicole (Stella) of Fair Haven, VT, Delbert Flood of Los Angeles, CA, great-grandson Delbert Flood Jr. of NYC. Her good friend Ally, numerous nieces and nephews and her four feline friends Jasper, Bootsie, Mummy and Tuffy.

In accordance with Joyce’s wishes there will be no calling hours, Interment will be in the spring.  In lieu of flowers Joyce asks that you make a donation in her name to one of her favorite charities, The Cornerstone Soup Kitchen in Husdon Falls, NY or the Salvation Army.
