Whitehall- Robert I. Rozell, 86 of School Street went into the arms of the Lord on November 1, 2017 at his home.  Bob was born on July 27, 1931 in Poultney, VT the son of the late Ira and Alice (Panushek) Rozell.

Bob was a lifelong resident of Whitehall and graduated from Whitehall High School class of 1950.

 He enlisted in the US Air Force and served as a radio interpretation specialist.

He married his best friend and love of his life, Eileen Whalen In 1959.

Bob was a retired chemist for St. Gobain Company in Granville, NY where he worked for more than 25 years. He served on the Board for the Washington County Home for Aged Women, he was a former Village Trustee and Town Supervisor for Whitehall, where he was instrumental on the committee which helped secured a doctor to serve in Whitehall and he was also on the committee to build the Whitehall Health Center and bring the National Church Residence (Skenesborough Harbor) to Whitehall.

Bob was very active on committees, he served on the Jay Cee committee to organize the local Junior Miss Scholarship Program, now called the Distinguished Young Women Scholarship Program.  Where he served as Chairman, Judges Coordinator and then later on as Tabulator.

He was a very active member of his community.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #276, American Legion Post #83 and Grange #922 all of Whitehall.

Bob received the Man of the Year Award in 1972 from the Whitehall Chamber of Commerce, and the Liberty Bell Award for Community Service in 1988 which was presented by the Washington County Bar Association.

He was a communicant of the Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church in Whitehall, where he served as head usher.

Bob was a chartered member of the former Skenesborough Central Volunteer Fire Company, where he held many titles and was at one time Assistant Fire Chief.  He was also a member of the Whitehall Volunteer Fire Company.

Bob was predeceased by two brothers, Ted Rozell and Alan Rozell, two sisters, Carol Rozell and Patty Rozell Stark.

He is survived by his wife Eileen Rozell of Whitehall a son Bobby Rozell of Pittsburgh, PA.  Also left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Wilbur Rozell and Kenneth Rozell, his sister Gail Mccullen (Frank), sister-in-law- Ruth Jones, special nieces Kandy Bruce (Rick), Piper Whalen, a nephew Barry Whalen (Jessie), great niece Kerrie Gordon (Gary), great nephew Rick Bruce (Joleen), great-great nieces, Kassidy Gordon and Jessica Bruce, great-great nephews Zachary Gordon and Ricky Bruce, who were always there to keep him on his toes.

Family and friends may call from 4PM to 7PM on Friday November 3, 2017 at the Jillson Funeral Home Inc. 46 Williams Street, Whitehall, NY.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00AM on November 4, 2017 at the Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church in Whitehall by Rev. Rendell Torres, Pastor officiating. Burial with full military Honors will conducted by the Whitehall American Legion Post # 83 in the Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.

The fire company will assemble at 5:45PM and the American Legion will assemble at the funeral home at 6:45PM for a Legionnaires Service. 

Pall Bearers will be Rick Bruce SR, Rick Bruce Jr, Gary Gordon, John Rozell, Todd Rozell, Barry Whalen and Jeff Benjamin.

A time of fellowship and refreshments will be held at the American Legion Post 83 after the burial.

The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made in Bob’s name to the Our Lady of Hope Church, 9 Wheeler Ave., Whitehall, NY 12887
