Ronald McGinnis Obituary

Whitehall-Ronald L. McGinnis went into the arms of the Lord Jesus on Monday, September 24, 2018.  He was born on February 21, 1944 to the late Francis and Naomi (Brown) McGinnis Derby.

Ron was a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and was an over-the-road truck driver for thirty plus years.  His last seven years he shared his duties with his wife as an over-the-road team.  They also shared many miles riding their Harley’s together as well as with friends.

Besides his parents he is predeceased by his brothers Richard McGinnis, Robert McGinnis, and Arthur McGinnis, a sister Jean McGinnis, Father in laws Harold J. Kennedy, and Eugene Ames, brother in law Michael Kennedy and sister in law Diane Pomainville.

To cherish his memory is his wife Bonnie Kennedy McGinnis, of Whitehall.  They were married July 29, 1981, sharing thirty seven years of the good, the bad, but always filled with true love.

His children, Cheryl Lynn (Mark) Rake of Corydon, IN., and Craig (Rachel) McGinnis of Ft Wayne, IN.  His grandchildren, Jessica, Justin, Derron, Craig Jr., Kylee and Caide.  His brothers Jack McGinnis of New Port Richey, FL, Francis (Joyce) McGinnis of Rutland, VT., Sisters Carol McGinnis of Whitehall, NY., and Maureen Griffith of Rutland, VT.  His mother in law Beverly Ames, brother in laws, Harold (Susan) Kennedy and William “Juicer” Kennedy, and sister in laws Pamela (Richard) Hobus and Judy (Steve Belamus) Kennedy, many nieces and nephews that meant the world to him as well as his extended family of special friends that he enjoyed sharing time with.

Finally to miss him loads, will be his little fur babies Shi Li and Ching Li.

Visitation will be private for the family.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00am on Friday September 28, 2018 at the Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church in Whitehall, with the Rev. Rendell Torres officiating.

Full military honors will be conducted by the Whitehall American Legion Post 83 in the Greenmount Cemetery following the Mass.

Pallbearers will be: Harold Kennedy, William Kennedy, Craig M. McGinnis Jr., Gary Charpentier, David Morse, Kenneth McGinnis, Mark McGinnis, and Paul Ferguson.
