Dresden- William Mark Stafford, 61, passed away unexpectedly on September 25, 2017 at the Glens Falls Hospital.

William was born in Albany, New York on December 29, 1955 to the late Margaret (Bolton) Henry and William Earl Henry.

After 11 years of courting he finally bucked up and married the love of his life Ginger Greenwood on June 21, 1986.  They were blessed with two beautiful children a son William Edward and daughter Shyla Sue.

He was a member of the Roofer Union Local 241 for 25 years.  In 1993 he ventured out and started Water Guard Roofing which he ran for 24 years until passing the business onto his son Will.

Bill served in the U.S. Army from 1975-1977.  He was a member of American Legion Post 83 in Whitehall.

He loved to raise Dobermans, hunt, fish, camp, boating, cooking out and especially spending time with his family and friends.

He was so excited and looking forward to the birth of his first grandchild, William Russell due in February 2018.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his Brother-in-Law William Bennett.

Survivors include his wife and children and Will’s Fiancé Caitlin Hayward, sisters; Betty Ann Bennett of Albany, Barbara Manell (Gary) of Whitehall, Brothers; James Stafford (Carol) of Albany, David Stafford (Nora) of Schenectady.  Brother-In-Law Edward Greenwood (Chris) of Whitehall. Several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Respected by all, loved by many, missed by a lot.

Family and Friends may call on Friday September 29, 2017 from 2PM-4PM and 6PM-8PM at the Jillson Funeral Home Inc. 46 Williams Street, Whitehall, NY.  American Legion Post 83 will conduct a Legionaries Service at 7:45PM at the funeral home.  A graveside service will be held at 10AM on Saturday September 30, 2017 in the Clemons Cemetery will full military honor provided by the Whitehall American Legion Post 83.

Following the Service there will be a celebration of his life at the American Legion Post 83, Main Street, Whitehall.  Any food contributions may be brought to the American Legion.

A special thank you to all of the family and friends for their love and support during this time.
