Dresden - With broken hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Alice Battease on April 19, 2026. Alice was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Her children were the center of her life, and she took immense pride in her home. Alice dedicated many hours to maintaining her lawn and caring for her yard. She was able to fix anything and enjoyed doing it. Alice was loved by everyone who was lucky enough to meet her.
Alice spent 25 years working at International Paper Company in Ticonderoga.
Alice was born on March 19, 1933, in Hampton, New York, the daughter of Elmina Belden and John Malloy.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward (Pat) Battease; her partner, Vernal Bezio; three brothers, Jake Pratt, Carl Pratt, and Pete Pratt; and two sisters, Viola Pratt and Lillian Pomainville.
Alice is survived by her children: Raymond Martindale (Judy), Kevin Battease (Gail), Laurie Cahill, Mickey Bezio (Dawn), and Ricky Bezio (Lori); her grandchildren: Trapper Granger (Jessica), Alicia Nutting (Darrell), Kerry Cahill (Leland), Thomas Cahill (Catherine), Tiffany Bezio (Braden), Mickey Bezio (Rachel), and Brandon Bezio (Sierra); as well as great-grandchildren Alex Nutting and soon-to-be Melina Huss. She is also survived by three brothers: Malcom Pratt (Mary), Doran Pratt (Bonnie), and Floyd Pratt (Patricia).
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1pm on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at her home on B Lane in Whitehall, NY, Dresden.
