Whitehall: Bertha (Peanut) M. Neddo 83, passed away following a long illness on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at her home.
She was born on January 18, 1933 in Poultney, Vermont the daughter of the late Clayton G. and Pauline C. (Jordan) Pekins
Bertha was a devoted wife and was married to Kenneth M. Neddo on August 19, 1955. They spent 60 years together before his passing on January 25, 2015.
She was a member of the Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church of Whitehall and a past member of the Whitehall Fawns.
Peanut was a hair dresser for many years and enjoyed collecting dolls, which she always referred to them as her babies.
She loved children and enjoyed Halloween and giving out the large candy bars to all the kids.
She enjoyed vacationing with her husband, especially their trips to Maine every year.
Besides her parents and husband, she is predeceased by two brothers, Lawrence Pekins and David Pekins.
Survivors include two brothers, Donald Jordan Sr. and his wife Martha of Northfield MA., Phillip Pekins and his wife Betty of Gonzales, LA. Her guardians, Nieces Judy Baker and Doris Donaldson, her Great Niece Theresa Davidson and John Panetta, who were her care givers.
Many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will conducted on Friday September 2, 2016 at 11:00am at the Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church with the Reverend Rendell Torres, Pastor officiating.
Calling hours for family and friends will be held at the Jillson Funeral Home Inc. 46 Williams Street, Whitehall, NY on Thursday September 1, 2016 from 6-8pm.
Burial will follow the Mass at the Neddo Street Cemetery, Whitehall.
The family would like to thank Kerin Devlin NP, the staff of the Whitehall Family Health Center and the High Peaks Hospice.
