Betty Jane Monty

Whitehall: Betty Jane Monty, 75, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2016.

Betty was born on December 22, 1940 in Glens Falls, the daughter of Carl and Louise Monty.

She grew up in Whitehall and was a graduate of Whitehall Central School.  She joined the Air Force on January 1959 serving at Hamilton Air Force Base in California and was honorably discharged on August 1960 and served as a recreational specialist.

Betty returned to Whitehall where she later graduated from Adirondack Community College with a degree in nursing.  She worked as an RN at Glens Falls Hospital, many different hospitals and home health agencies in California and lastly at Moses Ludington where she retired. She loved being a nurse and her patients and co-workers all knew and loved her as a very kind and loving person.

She had a very strong love for her family especially her daughter, three grandchildren and great granddaughters. They were her world and she would do anything for them.

Betty loved spending time with her family and loved animals and traveling.

She is predeceased by her parents and two brothers, James Monty of Whitehall and Edward Monty of Granville.

She is survived by one sister, Katherine Kuiper; one daughter, Kathleen Wilson of Whitehall; two grandsons, Michael and Andrew Wilson of Whitehall and one granddaughter, Danielle Houston and her husband, Todd Houston of Whitehall as well as a great granddaughter, Abbigale Wilson of Whitehall and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call at the Jillson Funeral Home Inc., 46 Williams Street, Whitehall on Thursday, February 11, 2016 from 5PM to 8PM.

A Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 1PM at the Grace Baptist Church in Whitehall with Rev. Paul Shephard officiating.

Interment will be in the spring at Greenmount Cemetery in Whitehall.

As Betty dearly loved animals and has rescued many of them throughout the years, the family requests memorial donations be made to the SPCA of Upstate New York, 454 Queensbury Avenue, Queensbury, NY 12804.
