Catherine A. (Bowen) LaChappelle

Whitehall: Catherine A. (Cathy) LaChapelle, 81, of Blinn Street Passed away on Thursday April 13, 2017 in The Rutland Regional Medical Center in Rutland Vermont after a long courageous battle with lung cancer.

She was born on March 23, 1936 in Benson, Vermont the daughter of the late Hollis and Martha (Ellis) Bowen. 

Cathy was a graduate of the Fair Haven High School Class of 1954 and she enjoyed being a waitress where she worked for various restaurants before starting a career at the General Electric Company in Fort Edward, New York where she retired from in 1991. After her retirement she was waitressing at the Big Apple Dinner until she was 80 years old. Cathy’s enjoyments included reading, bowling, and fishing, hunting and cooking.  

Besides her Parents she is predeceased by a son Michael Boutwell, daughter Ranae Wood, Her Brothers Hollis Bowen, William (Billy) Bowen, Richard (Dick) Bowen, David Bowen, and Donald Bowen.  

Survivors include her husband Rodney (Joe) LaChapelle of Whitehall, who were happily together for 42 years, daughter Gail Bruno (David) of Bomoseen, Vermont, Step daughter Lori Darrah (Ray) of Hebron, three step sons Rodney LaChapelle Jr.(Mary) of South Glens Falls, Timothy LaChapelle (Sandy) of Gloucester Va., Randy LaChapelle (Joan ) of Hartford, grandchildren Michael Wood (Allison), Jodi Silva, step grandchildren Lee Darrah, Chris Darrah, Jaci Darrah, Shawn LaChapelle, Annelise LaChapelle, Aimee LaChapelle, Mikayla LaChapelle, Jenelle LaChapelle. Cathy is also survived by her siblings, a sister Mary Bruno, brothers Allen Bowen, Howard Bowen, Ralph (Jeff) Bowen and Great grandchildren Isaac Wood, Maryanne Wood, Bridget Silva, Emily Silva, Porter Silva and one Great Great Grandson Bentley Silva and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 6, 2017 at 2:30 PM at the Jillson Funeral Home Inc. 46 Williams Street, Whitehall, New York.  Family and friends may call from 1:30 PM until the time of the service.
