Whitehall- On March 2, 2021, Catherine Rose Lloyd (nee Bartholomew), County Route 12, Whitehall, NY died in the Glens Falls hospital of natural causes. She was 95 years old and a life-long resident of Whitehall, NY.
Catherine was born on June 30, 1925 in Whitehall, NY. She was graduated from Whitehall High School in1942, where she met and later married her high school sweetheart, David Lloyd, on April 22, 1945.
Cath, as she was known by family and friends, is survived by her younger sister, Mary Ellen Greco, Whitehall, NY; and her three sons; James (Gail), Locust Grove, VA; John (Rebecca), Moreau, NY; and Jerald (Judy), Queensbury, NY. She also is survived by grandchildren; Karre Lloyd Jones (Doug Stokes), Bristow, VA; James Lloyd, Jr., Locust Grove, VA; Derek Lloyd (Melanie Knoth), Loudonville, NY; Jaclyn (Tim) Beadnell, Altamont, NY; Casey Lloyd (Wes Legault), Albany, NY; and five great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild due in June. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Cath was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, David, in 1998; her father, James Leslie Bartholomew; her mother, Evelyn Evangelist Bartholomew (nee Kelly); and her older brother, David Bartholomew and his spouse, Lorraine; brother-in-law, Joseph Greco; and granddaughter, Kelly Marie Lloyd.
Cath was totally involved with raising her three boys in Whitehall and when they became school-aged, she held various jobs in and nearby Whitehall. She worked at Bill Jackson’s, the GE in Hudson Falls, and the businesses where she had the greatest connection with the people of Whitehall…JJ Newberry’s, Busty’s Market, and Brock’s Ward store. Cath and Dave were avid campers and started tenting when their boys were young and graduated to trailering as they became “empty-nester’s.” They looked forward each year to their camping forays. They enjoyed visits to see their children when the grandchildren started arriving in the 1970’s. She was a very gifted seamstress and loved sewing for her DILs and grandchildren. After Dave passed, Cath and Mary Ellen became very active in the Whitehall Senior Citizen Organization.
