Whitehall-On Wednesday January 22, 2025, Christohper W. Monty passed away at home after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Rutland, Vermont on September 2,1962 he was the son of Wayne E. Monty and Mary Agnes (Stiles) Monty of Whitehall.
Chris graduated from Whitehall High School in 1982, where he was an All-Star Athlete in school. He received many awards for his athletic abilities and his multi-talents in all sports that he played. After graduation he still showed his love of the games and followed and mentored his younger brothers and many other younger athletes including his two nephews Brandon and Chad Jr. Even while going through his own battles, he never missed the opportunity to go watch them play football and was their biggest cheerleader. He had a love of body building and worked out several times a day and was very self-disciplined. He also loved riding his bike in the spring and summer months, putting on thousands of miles a year.
He spent his Sundays with his parents’ watching sports and helping with outside work that needed to be done.
Chris was employed by Vermont Structural Slate for 20 years where he had many good friends, especially Dave Oliver and Derrick Reid, that he enjoyed working with.
Chris was predeceased by his father Wayne E. Monty. He is survived by his daughter Lindsay M. Monty (Fairbanks, Alaska), Mother Mary A. Monty, sister Colleen Loper, brothers; Craig Monty, Chad (Shannon) Monty, sister Cathy (Steve) Howard, niece Ashley (Ryan) Bakemeier, nephews, Brandon Bolster, Stiles Loper, Christopher Bakemeier, Preston Bakemeier, Chad Monty Jr.. He is also survived by his favorite Aunt Patricia Stiles of Fair Haven, VT and many cousins and aunts. Also, his special neighbor for many years, Karen Martel.
