Clayton Thomas Smith

Whitehall—With heavy hearts, the world lost a special man, Clayton Thomas Smith, 46, of Broadway. He was born on July 15, 1979, in Glens Falls, the son of LeRoy Smith and Linda (Crosier) Smith.

Clayton was an amazing dad to the love and light of his life, his daughter, Kaylee Smith.

He held many jobs during his life, and his last position was as postmaster at the Whitehall Post Office.

He was a kind and caring man with a heart of gold, and he loved spending time with his family, playing softball and golf, and being the king of the RC racing world, where he raced all around the country and in Canada. He was always a top qualifier and a winner.

Survivors include his mother of Dresden; a brother, LeRoy Smith; his daughter, Kaylee Smith; his nephew, Alex Smith, who was like a brother; his niece, Jordan Smith; nephews Jax, Paxton, Lennox, and Hendrix Smith; aunts Joan (Irvie) Mattison, Charlene Bessette, and Helen (Armond) Waters; Uncle Wade Bissonette; and cousin Wade Bissonette, who was more like a brother, with many adventures together. He also leaves behind many cousins and many special lifelong friends, including Alicia Tracey (Kaylee’s mom), Lori Cenate, and many more.

Clayton had many friends in RC racing, and when the RC Trainman came, he beat them.

Waiting to greet him in Heaven are his dad, LeRoy Smith, aunts Marie Wilbur and Audrey Bissonette, and many more.

The world will not be the same without you in our lives. His favorite song growing up was “You Are My Sunshine.” You will always be in every ray of sunshine to me, your mom, and we love you to the moon and back.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date and will be announced.
