Danny Gordon Obituary

Whitehall - Danny James Gordon, 64, of North Williams Street, went into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday February 21, 2018 at the Rutland Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family and friends.  He was born in Whitehall on December 8, 1953.  He was the son of the late Herman and Jane (Newell) Gordon. 

Dan loved to camp and fish on his boat on Lake Champlain with his wife, children and grandchildren.  He also loved to go to auctions, doing puzzles on Facebook and motorcycling.

Dan was a past member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge No. 1491 in Whitehall and a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.

Dan was a cross country truck driver for most of his life until his health became an issue and he was forced to retire. 

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister, Linda LaMay, brother, Terry Wayne LaMay, nephew, Gary LaMay, Grandparents Ralph and Anna (Sears) Newell, William and Delia (Gandrow) Gordon, Grandson Silas Gordon and baby Gordon, several uncles, aunts and cousins.

Survivors include his wife and the love of his life and companion, Debby Cline.  His children Danny J. Gordon II and his wife Michelle of Pownal, VT;  Shannon Gordon of Manchester, VT; Daughter-in-law  Lori Gordon of Bennington, VT; Eric and his wife Marilee VanGuilder of  Granville, NY;  Brad Gordon and his companion Jamie McKee and his daughter Katie Jayne Gordon,  all of Whitehall, his stepson Sgt. Michael Cline stationed in CA. His sister, Janet (Gordon) LaChapelle and her husband Don of Westminster, SC; his brother, Lance A. Gordon and his companion Cherie Ballard of Whitehall.  17 grandchildren; Dan’s children Cody, Austin, Bailey Robert and Dakota.  Shannon Children, Bailey, Ben, Hayden, Alexa, Camden and Nolan.  Eric’s Children Kaine and Lucy. Brad’s Children Alexis and Dawson.  Katie’s Children Jasmine, Brianna and Brayden. Nieces, Tammy Bushika and her husband Dale, Terri Lynn Nolette and her husband Albert, Lynda LaMay, Amy Swears and her husband Eran, Jill Lord and nephew Tim Cook and his wife Lori.  Great nieces and nephews, two aunts, Sue (Newell) O’Steen and Beverly (Rondeau) Newell, several cousins and his dog and sidekick Zena.

Family and friends may call from 1PM to 3PM on Sunday February 25, 2018 at the Jillson Funeral Home Inc. 46 Williams Street, Whitehall, NY.  A prayer service will be held at 3PM following the calling hours by the Reverend Dan Thompson Pastor of the Whitehall United Methodist Church. A gathering will be held at the Skenesborough Emergency Squad building in Whitehall, NY after the service.

The family would like to thank The Hospice nurses, Rutland Hospital and all his doctors and nurses for all their time during his illness and final days.    Thank you cousin Lora and George Card for all the many ambulance trips to the hospital. 

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Jillson Funeral Home Inc., 46 William Street in Whitehall, New York. 

Interment will take place in the spring in the Greenmount Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Dan’s name to the Jillson Funeral Home Inc. to help defray the funeral expenses.
