Granville: Dayton Wayne “Skip” Fredette, 89, of Granville and Rutland, Vermont passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at the Washington Center in Argyle, NY.
Born on August 24, 1926 in Rutland, Vermont, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Iva V. (Sherwin) Fredette.
Skip was a US Army veteran of WWII and proudly served his country.
He enjoyed nature, taking long walks in the woods, bird watching, hunting, fishing and camping. He never missed a family gathering, spreading laughter with his humor and smiling with a gentle nod of his head to acknowledge his happiness with being with his family. He also enjoyed playing cards, dominoes and Yahtzee while he ate a big piece of chocolate cake or a Snickers bar.
Skip went on to become a lumberjack, custodian and in later years a maintenance assistant at ski resorts in Vermont.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by three sisters, Charlotte Crouch, Patricia Fuller and Zillah Redding; also Evelyn Fredette; daughter, Jeane Burgardt; granddaughter, Shelly French; two sisters-in-law, Clara Fredette and Jesse Fredette and three brothers-in-law, Grover Crouch, Coolidge Fuller and Leroy Redding.
He is survived by two younger brothers, Maurice Fredette of Fort Ann, NY and Clifton Fredette of Granville, NY; son-in-law, Robert Burgardt of Granville, NY; four grandchildren, several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
At Skip’s request, there will be no calling hours.
Graveside services will be held at a later date at the family’s convenience.
