Whitehall: Doris Veronica (St. Clair) Jeffreys 93, died on Thursday May 19, 2016 at The Orchard Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Granville, NY. She was surrounded by loving family.

She was born September 18, 1922 in Whitehall, N.Y. to Velma (Davignon) St. Clair and Albert St. Clair.

Doris was predeceased by her parents and loving husband of 69 years, Edward “Ned” Jeffreys.  She is survived by her sister Gracelyn Pippo and twin brothers John St. Clair and James St. Clair.

Doris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many. She graduated from Whitehall Central School and earned a degree in nursing from the Rutland Hospital School of Nursing. Doris dedicated her service as a registered nurse at the Glens Falls Hospital for over 30 years.

Doris was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court McLaughlin #596 and a communicate of Our Lady of Angels and Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church.

In November of 1943 Doris married her high school sweetheart – Ned Jeffreys. Together they raised six children in their home at 13 Park Avenue. Doris spent many enjoyable hours cooking for her family, canning vegetables from “Ned’s garden”, and baking everyone’s favorite pie or cake for the holidays. She took great pride in caring for her house and loved her children and grandchildren dearly.  Doris made her home the center of the family by hosting many wonderful Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners over the years. She always included grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces/nephews, cousins and many friends. Doris was truly a wonderful example for her children to follow.

Doris also had a passion for traveling with her trailer. Doris loved camping at the ocean and spent many hours in the sun on the beaches of New Hampshire and Cape Cod. She also traveled with the “kids” to Myrtle and Daytona Beach during their school vacation in the spring.  One of her most memorable trips was the “cross country” expedition to California in the summer of 1967. Only our adventurous parents would attempt such a trip with six children in a station wagon and pulling a travel trailer. In her retirement years Doris spent wonderful years with her husband and friends wintering on Hutchinson Island and Springhill, Florida.

Doris is survived by her six children and their spouses.  Susan and Daniel Mulholland, Doreen and Ellery Willett. Mary Jill and Joseph LaRocca, Edward and Eric Jeffreys-Berns, William and Susan Jeffreys, Robert and Stacey Jeffreys.  She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and their spouses. Dr. Jeffrey Mulholland, Martha Mulholland, Clark Willett, Derek Willett, Beau Hodges(Amy), Melissa, Anthony, and Joseph LaRocca, Ella and Wagner Jeffreys-Berns, Andrew and Mia Jeffreys, Sarah and Morgan Jeffreys

Doris was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren- Anna, Larisa, Rodger, Luke, Matthew, Jacob, Kali, Emily, Chesney and Cole. She also will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends from Hills Pond.
