Dorothy L. Scott, 91, of Whitehall, NY passed away on Thursday, September 29, after a brief stay at Mountain View Center in Rutland VT. She was the wife of the late Joseph B. Scott.
Dorothy is survived by her beloved children Helen Hoey (Michael) of Bremerton WA, Anne Scott (Alexander Peck) of Manhattan, and Robert Scott of Whitehall. She was pre-deceased by her cherished daughter Patricia Scott, Sister Jane Clarke, and Brother Charles Munger.
Dorothy was proud of her seven grand-children, Elizabeth Van and Andrew Hoey; Scott Bascue, Christopher Bascue and Kate Wiskoski; and Joseph and Benjamin Peck; and drew enormous pleasure from her ten great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister Emily Ford of Troy, sister in-law Elvira Scott Neumann of Glenville, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends, all of whom helped to enrich her life throughout the decades.
She spent over 40 summers as a resident of Huletts Landing on Lake George, best known as the co-proprietor of Scotts General Store. She took great pleasure in gardening and antiquing.
Prior to raising her family, she was employed at the Champlain Silk Mill and Cook and Sacco's Clothing Store. She later worked for the Whitehall branch of Troy Savings Bank.
Dorothy was especially grateful to Kate and John Wiskoski, Brenda and Chris Bascue, and their families, who bestowed much love and support.
The family thanks Barbie Battease and Anna Griffin for the kind attention they provided.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, Skene Street, Whitehall, NY on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 10 a.m. by Father Declan Gibson, Priest in Residence.
