Elaine (Senecal) Jones of Whitehall, NY died on November 17, 2025.
She was born Elaine Elsie Senecal on May 28, 1944 in Rutland, Vermont. She was the daughter of the late Paul J. Senecal, Sr. and Catherine (Phelps) Senecal of Whitehall, NY. Elaine was a graduate of Whitehall High School, class of 1962. She graduated from the University of New York at Plattsburg, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a teaching certification in Secondary Education in 1967. Elaine spent several years teaching math at the junior high and high school level around the Burlington, VT area. She left teaching when her sons were young and opened a painting and wallpapering business in the Burlington, VT area. In 1989 Elaine returned to her childhood home in Whitehall, NY to care for her aging parents. After her parents passed away Elaine was a member of the Whitehall United Methodist Church where she served as an organist and the music co-director. She was also an organist at the Dresden Baptist Church for many years. Finally, Elaine served as the Whitehall Town Clerk from 2010-2011 and the Deputy Town Clerk from 2012-2017.
Elaine had many hobbies during her lifetime including sewing, music, gardening, crocheting and genealogy. For many years Elaine made doll clothes, fleeceware and handbags which she then sold at craft fairs under the business name SewCute.
In addition to her parents Elaine was predeceased by her longtime companion Philip H. Monette, her brothers and sisters-in-law Paul J. and Clara Senecal and Wayne R. and Carol Senecal, and her nephew Gary Senecal.
She is survived by her sons Richard S. (Daisy) Jones of Haslet, TX and Robert W. (Maura) Jones of Goffstown, NH, grandchildren Jessica, David, Willam and Katherine, great grandsons Lucas and Logan, chosen grandson Adam Koeble of Warrensburg, NY, as well as many nieces, nephews and good friends.
Calling hours will be at the Jillson Funeral Home in Whitehall, NY on Monday November 24th from 5pm to 7pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Whitehall Central School Music & Drama Department.
