Evelyn Gregory Obituary

Evelyn Diekel Gregory, 93, went into the arms of the Lord, on October 21, 2018.

Evelyn leaves a legacy as an amazing wife to her devoted husband, as well as a wonderful mother to her five daughters.

Born on December 22, 1924, in Whitehall, N.Y. to Max and Pauline Diekel, she was predeceased by her first husband, Karl White.

Evelyn was a retired R.N., graduating from Daytona Beach Community College in 1972, with an A.S. in nursing, getting her degree at 48.  She was a phenomenal caregiver-specializing in psychiatric nursing and private duty.  She was the hardest working woman you could ever find, who poured her heart and hands in to any hard undertaking she accepted.  She was truly a pioneer of her time for her fierce independence and unflappable spirit; and Evelyn was truly a fearless woman.  Evelyn, like her mother, could plant just about anything and make it grow.  She also took huge pride in her cooking and baking, for which she kept a hand written recipe book. Evelyn was a woman of great faith: she recited the 93rd Psalm regularly.  She loved traveling-especially by R.V. with her wonderful husband, to many special places throughout the country in their R.V.

She is survived by her dedicated husband Bernard, five daughters; Bonnie Collins (Patrick), Audrey Cain (Tom), Sharon Green, Heidi and Nancy White.  She is also survived by her step children; Pattie Gould and John Gregory (Laurie).  Other survivors include many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

A private family service will be held at the Jillson Funeral Home, Thursday October 25, at noon, with the burial after, at Truthville Cemetery.
