Frances C. Foster passed peacefully this morning, Sunday February 21, 2016 at Indian River Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Granville, New York at the age of 92 years.
Born June 4, 1923 in Niagara Falls, NY., She was the daughter of Charles and Mary (Walker) Young.
Fran loved her hometown of Niagara Falls, NY and returned many times to visit throughout her long life. She enjoyed telling stories of her work at Kimberly Clark in "The Falls" and her days going to Catholic school with the Nuns as her instructors. She also worked for a time at Scott's general store in Huletts Landing and for Harrison K. Bird on Bluff Head Road in Huletts where she became like family to Harrison and Harriett.
She loved to play bingo and enjoyed her social time there with the many friends she made over the years. Fran also loved playing cards and board games with family and friends. She loved spending time in Huletts Landing on Lake George swimming and visiting friends and family there. She spent most of life in Clemons, NY where she raised six children along with her husband, Henry (Hank). She was an exceptional cook and baker - her apple pies were always in high demand. Movie star Teresa Wright once told her it was the best apple pie she had ever eaten. Mom was quite proud of that. She enjoyed taking in many garage sales as much as she enjoyed having them on Huletts mountain.
Fran endured many tragedies in her life losing three of her six children, (Barbara, Chuck & Mike) and her husband (Hank), but always handled these losses with grace and determination to stay strong for the remaining family. She was a pillar for us all. Fran was a beautiful woman inside and out and will be sorely missed by her remaining family and friends.
