Frank Lipka Obituary

Whitehall – In deep loving memory of my husband, Frank Edward Lipka. Born on April 28, 1954, Frank passed away peacefully at the age of 71 on April 14, 2026, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Fulfilling his wish, Frank spent his final moments at home with his loving, devoted, and caregiving wife, Barbara. He was born in Glens Falls, New York, the son of Edward Frank and Eleanor (Levett) Lipka.

Frank grew up in Whitehall and graduated from Whitehall Central School with the class of 1972. He dedicated 40 years of his career to the Delaware and Hudson Railroad, which later became the Canadian Pacific Railroad. Starting as a Trainman, Frank worked his way up to become a heavy Equipment Operator, often traveling throughout the New England states and Pennsylvania, as well as to the Canadian border. He never turned down a request for extra work, regardless of the weather conditions, demonstrating an honorable dedication to his job. My husband Frank was very honorably dedicated to getting the job done Frank formed lasting friendships with many colleagues across Whitehall, Essex, Willsboro, Plattsburgh, and Buffalo.

Frank took great enjoyment in sports such as skiing and windsurfing, was an avid hunter, and loved taking drives with his wife, Barbara. He especially cherished time spent around Lake Bomoseen, the Adirondack Mountains, and northern Lake Champlain, where he was known as the #1 windsurfer. Frank’s passion for classic cars led him to own several, and he was devoted to caring for his Siamese cats and other pets. Together with Barbara, Frank enjoyed spending time on the Outer Banks Barrier Islands in North Carolina with their long-time friends, Larry and Joanne, sharing their love for skiing, windsurfing, and beach outings.

Frank is survived by his wife, Barbara, and his sister, Linda Lipka Bessette, along with her husband, Terry, and their two sons, Justin and Bradley of Whitehall. He will also be missed by his stepdaughter, Jamie Ann Morrison Mastorvich, and her husband, Steven, of Westwood, Massachusetts, who always offered their help and best advice when needed, as well as his grandchildren.

Throughout Frank’s long illness, his sister, Linda, kept in touch, as did his friends from the railroad, offering support until the end of his life.

Frank requested that there be no calling hours or services. The family suggests that any donations may be made to the Skenesborough EMS, P.O. Box 333, Whitehall, New York 12887.
