Gary J. Bessette

Hudson Falls: Gary J. Bessette, 70, of John Street, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at the Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont.

Born on December 13, 1945 in Ticonderoga,  he was the son of the late Henry and Edna (Lindsay)  Bessette.

He worked as a diesel mechanic for Chemical Leman before becoming a truck driver with A. P. Transport where he served for 25 years in theTeamster’ Union before retiring.  During that time, he obtained numerous safe driving awards.

He enjoyed the outdoors which included snowmobiling, fishing and hunting on occasions with his brother, children and family.

He enjoyed camping at Port Henry Beach on Lake Champlain with his friends and family. When his children were young, he loved tinkering with auto body and classic cars.  He liked to sit at Stewart’s with his friends for coffee and to visit and would lend a hand to anyone in need.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his sons, Richard (Tobie) Bessette of Fort Edward, Jeffrey Bessette (a.k.a. Moose) of Hudson Falls, Jaysen (Christian) Bessette of Kingsbury and Kevin Bessette of Fort Edward; grandchildren, Amanda Bessette, Kayla Bessette, Collin Bessette and Coltin Bessette; one brother, Ronald (Janice) Bessette of Whitehall; his ex-wife, Lois Bessette of Hudson Falls and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends may call at the Jillson Funeral Home, Inc., 46 Williams Street, Whitehall on Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 3 PM to 6 PM.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donation in Gary’s name to the C. R. Wood Cancer Center, 102 Park Street, Glens Falls, New York 12801.
