H. Ronald Bessette Obituary

Whitehall-H. Ronald Bessette went to be with our lord and savior on Dec 30,2020.  Ron was the first-born son of the late Henry L. and Edna M. (Lindsay) Bessette.

Ron was married to Janice (Romeo) Bessette, together they have spent the last 50 years with each other.

In his early years Ron was employed by the D&H Railroad, but his love and passion were restoring old cars most of his life. He was what many called the back-yard mechanic. He had a special talent of being able to turn an old rust bucket into a beautiful show car. He did many throughout his years, but his favorites were 1949-1950 Ford and Mercury’s. He was the founder of the Skenesborough Street Rodders in the late 1980’s, where the club did some fund raising and car shows. He was very proud of that time. Ron had a love of talking with everyone he met. We always said he had the gift to gab ...

His second passion was camping with his wife and family since 1970. He and his wife Janice managed the Port Henry campsite in Port Henry, NY from 1990-1996, where they made many friends and considered family, where many memories were made.

Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by his brother Gary Bessette.

He is survived by his wife Janice, his children; son Marc Bessette of Whitehall; daughter Renee (Chuck) Lobdel of Troy NY; son Chad (Roxy) Marcy of North Pole, Alaska; daughter Debby Cline of Whitehall; son Ron (Tara) Bessette, of North Carolina, son Gary Bessette of Granville, and Son Terry (Linda)Bessette of Whitehall. His grandchildren; Payton, Emaly, Marcee and Jamison Bessette, Lindsay Bessette, Taylor Scidmore, Evan McLaughlin, Tessa Lobdell, Jacob Marcy, Michael Cline, Spencer and Hunter Bessette, Justin Bessette, Bradley Bessette and several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He also leaves behind his 2 fur babies Layla and Bruiser who spent every moment by his side while he was sick.

At Ron’s request there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at the Lock 12 Marina in Whitehall on Saturday Jan 2, 2021 from 12PM – 3PM.
