Whitehall- Ida M. Carlton, 94, of Carlton Road, passed away at her home on August 15, 2024, following a brief illness.
She was born on May 31, 1930 in Whitehall, NY, the daughter of the late Merrill and Louise (Tatro) Therrien.
Ida and her late husband John Carlton were married on August 21, 1948. John passed away on August 20, 2001 following more than 50 years of marriage.
She was a communicant of the Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church of Whitehall.
Ida had a passion for painting and caring for her lawn, but her most enjoyment came from her family. She most enjoyed being surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband John, she is predeceased by her first son George H. Carlton and eight brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her son John J. Carlton and his wife Susie of Lincoln, CA, her three daughters: Helen L. Ross and her husband Eric of Whitehall, Joanne Case and her husband Robert of Whitehall, Carla J. Armer of Ballston Spa. She is also survived by her four grandchildren: Yvonne Scott-Wood, Heather McGee, Gary Carlton and Laurel Carlton, her four great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves behind her loving companion “Daisey”.
At Ida’s request there will be no calling hours of funeral services. A Rite of Committal will be held privately and at the convenience of the family in the Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Whitehall.
She requests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to either the Skenesborough Emergency Squad, PO Box 333, Whitehall, NY 12887, or the Whitehall Volunteer Fire Company, PO Box 188, Whitehall, NY 12887, or High Peaks Hospice, 124 Dix Ave, Hudson Falls, NY 12839.
