Whitehall-With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of James Albert St. Clair Jr. (“Jimmer”) on December 18, 2025. A loving husband, proud father, adoring grandfather, and friend to many, Jimmer lived a life full of laughter, adventure, and delightful wit.
Born May 2, 1957, in Glens Falls NY, Jimmer was a graduate of Whitehall Jr./Sr. High School, Class of 1975. He later served as a Greenside Navy Corpsman from 1978-1984. Following his time in service, Jimmer dedicated 30 years to UPS, retiring after a long and respected career.
Jimmer was a proud member of the American Legion Post 83 and the Elks Lodge 1491, where he built steady friendships and a strong sense of community. A certified scuba diver, he gravitated toward the water; a love most deeply fulfilled in Maine with his wife, where the ocean and food brought him so much joy.
A passionate sports fan, Jimmer followed the New York Yankees, Detroit Red Wings, and New York Giants. March Madness was a season he took very seriously, particularly when enjoyed inside his sugar house. He loved visiting the Saratoga Racetrack and Casino, a thrilling pastime that perfectly reflected his effervescent spirit. This love of excitement and friendly competition carried into other parts of his life, including his quest to be the best shark tooth hunter and his proudly held role as the “ZIP” game commissioner.
Family was central to Jimmer’s life. He took great pride in his three sons and held a deep affection for his daughter. Becoming a grandfather deepened his joy, and his positivity, patience, and playfulness made him a cherished presence in his grandchildren’s lives.
Above all else, Jimmer was devoted to his wife Susan. Married on March 20, 2010, they shared 30 beautiful years together marked by spontaneity and joy. Whether it be exciting trips or long car rides with no destination, Jimmer and Susan found contentment in exploring together. He had a knack for igniting full-bodied laughter in Susan, and their love was evident to everyone who knew them.
Jimmer was predeceased by his parents, James Sr. and Doreen Jillson St. Clair; his mother-in-law, Doris Belden; and his nephew, Kristopher Houghtby.
He is survived by his wife, Susan St.Clair; his children Taylor (Soleil) St.Clair, Courtney Davis, Jordan (Alexandra) St.Clair, and Luc St.Clair; his grandchildren Gwen, Aaliyah, Gavriella, Xylar, Braelynn, and Gage; his sisters Denise (Butch) Gilchrest, Jackie Nichols, and Jean (Mike) O’Brien. He is also survived by his father-in-law Ronald Belden and sister-in-law Patti (Steve) Brown, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Calling hours will be held Friday, December 26, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Jillson’s Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, December 27, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Elks Lodge. Burial and interment will be held in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jimmer’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Our Lady of Hope, or a charity of one’s choice.
