Whitehall-John James Leonbruno was born to Annie and Paul Leonbruno on February 7, 1931 in the town of Whitehall, NY. He was a graduate of Whitehall High in 1951, married his high school sweetheart, Leonore Marie Gordon, December 30, 1951. Enlisting that year into The U.S. Airforce, spending time in Korea and honorably discharged in 1957. John worked 31 years for the telephone company. He devoted many seasons to The Full Gospel Business Men Association, spreading God’s Truth to all who may “have ears to hear”, God’s love for mankind in His Beloved Son, Jesus. He served his community through his election to the Whitehall Board of Education. In his retirement years, John pursued a passion, working with his hands and few precision tools, he crafted in fine wood panels, intricate scrolling designs, creating folk art clocks, to the amazement of all who beheld them. John’s ingenuity and analytic mind blessed countless people through his lifetime. He always rose to the challenge to endeavor to repair or fix anything and everything. He would say, “I know the Lord showed me what to do…”, indeed God was working through him to bless others. John is the last of 7 children in his family. He is now, first and foremost with his Beloved Lord Messiah, Yeshua. He is reunited with his beloved “Chet”, his baby girl Mary and his granddaughter Sara; as well as countless other family and friends who trust the faithfulness of God’s Word. John stood with the faithfulness of The Swaggart Ministry and their stand for Truth. His gratitude toward CrossRiver Tabernacle, his church will only be known in glory. They continued to minister and strengthen him in his faith to his last breath. His “Torah Class”, teacher Tom Bradford, enabled John to continue to dig deep into the eternal Word, as he no longer could read… it was an anchor, which held, the Holy Scriptures.
John left behind his son Jeff Leonbruno and wife Judy; daughters Paula Leonbruno and Amy Leonbruno, daughter Tina Meng and husband Helmut. Grandchildren: Caleb Arnold, Cassandra Jackson, Elizabeth Cone, Arlette Burnett, Chris Taylor, Amelia Robertson, Christina Smith, and Eric Meng. John has 18 great grandchildren and a spiritually adopted son, Michael Thomas.
