John Noonan, 73, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 30, 2024 at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his loving family. John was born on February 27, 1951 in Whitehall, New York to the late Rita (Delorme) and Francis Noonan.
He attended Whitehall Central School for much of his schooling until his family moved to Hudson Falls where he finished and graduated from high school. He was employed at WBZA as a radio announcer until he enlisted in the Army. He proudly served as a radio announcer in the American Forces Vietnam.
After being discharged from the Army he worked for many years in the television industry as a traffic controller. Before retirement he worked for civilian contractors for the Department of Homeland Security. Most recently he worked for Hannaford in South Glens Falls and the Glen Drive In in Queensbury.
John enjoyed watching movies and listening to music. He also enjoyed visiting family and friends on the major holidays.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sister Crizan, and his brothers Steven and Paul. He is survived by his sister Jennifer Noonan from Laurel, Maryland and his brother William Noonan (Stacey) from South Glens Falls. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00am on Saturday August 10, 2024 at the Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, Wheeler Ave., Whitehall, NY, with
Rev. Zachariah Chichester officiating. Burial will follow the Mass in the Greenmount Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Whitehall American Legion Post 83.
A time for refreshments and reflection will be held from 12pm-3pm at the American Legion Post.
