John (Donnie) D. Mahar Jr.

Whitehall- It is with heavy hearts that we inform you of the passing of John D. Mahar Jr. (Donnie).  He joined his brother Shawn in heaven on Saturday, May 6, 2017 from complications of COPD.

Donnie was born on July 4th, 1960 in Glens Falls, the son of John D. Sr. and Patricia Mahar.

He attended Whitehall High School.  After high school he first became employed as a millwright, later he became self-employed as a commercial sheet rocker for many years.    Donnie was also an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, Fishing and Ice fishing.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his children, Devin, Nikia, Blaire, Shawn, Hunter and Blake.  His grand-children, Hannah, Gavin, Emma, Bently, Braelynn and Tyler.  He is also survived by his siblings, Lisa Hoy (Jeffrey), Stacey Jeffreys (Robert), Katrina Murphy (Matthew) and Christian Mahar, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers the family has suggested that donations be made in Donnie’s name to the Whitehall Fish and Game Club, C/O Pete Terry 3598 County Route 21, Whitehall, New York 12887 or to a charity of one’s choice.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00PM on Tuesday May 16, 2017 at the Jillson Funeral Home Inc., 46 Williams Street, Whitehall, New York 12887
