Joseph P. Mormino

Whitehall:   Joseph P. Mormino, 60, passed away unexpectedly on February 20, 2016 at his home.

He was born in Glens Falls, NY. on February 27, 1955, the son of the late Joseph V. and Gloria M. (Perry) Mormino.

He loved driving his favorite car, a 1973 Plymouth Duster which he enjoyed racing at South Glens Falls Drag Strip where he won over twenty trophies in his class.

His entrepreneur spirit was born when he assumed ownership of Production Services Inc. a successful venture. After many years and countless hours, his vision looked to the future. First he opened up Joe’s TV Sales and Service and then move on to PC Computer Repair and Technology.  Computers remained his main interest and then became a vocational instructor at Washington Correctional Facility in Comstock, NY.  He believed that giving his students an opportunity to learn his trade would give them a greater success in the future. He felt that he made a real contribution.

After retiring, Joe enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter and many summer activities including as many firework displays as he could, taking care of his lawns, camp fires with the family and sunny days. He also enjoyed country rides in the spring with his daughter to listen to the “peepers”. He enjoyed a good game of croquet in the evening and always seem to be a ruthless competitor and  always seem to win and also enjoyed playing checkers.

Survivors include his daughter, Heather Johnson and her husband Cullen and their daughter, Chiara Johnson; two sisters, Nancy Winters and her husband Glenn and their son Scott Winters of Fort Edward and Carol LaFond and her husband, Victor of Crown Point and their two children, Eric LaFond of Olmsteadville, NY and Nicole LaFond of Queensbury and several cousins.

There will be no calling hours.

A graveside service will be conducted in the spring at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Whitehall.
