Laura Vittum Obituary

Whitehall - Laura L. Vittum, 94, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. 

She was born in Whitehall, NY on December 29, 1930, the daughter of the late Thomas and Anna (Luse) Martin. 

Laura grew up in Whitehall and attended Whitehall High School.  After graduation, she married Bernard Gordon of Whitehall and had two children, Bernard and Michael.

She is predeceased by her son Michael, her brother Thomas Martin and her sister Rose Gordon.

Laura loved bowling, her New York Yankees and New York Giants.  She was a past member of the Whitehall BPOE Fawns. 

She moved to Orlando, Florida where she met and married  Paul Vittum.

She is survived by her son Bernard and his wife Helen, who was her caregiver.  She has two grandchildren, who she loved dearly, Stephanie Trudo (Peter) of Poultney, VT., and Stacey Chia (Chris) of Olathe, KS; four great-grandchildren, Leah and Isabel Trudo and Chloe and Alex Chia.

After almost 45 years living in Florida, she wanted to move back home to Whitehall.

Family and friends may call from 4 pm – 6 pm on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at the Jillson Funeral Home, 46 Williams Street, Whitehall, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 am on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church in Whitehall, with Rev. Zachariah Chichester officiating.

Burial will be in the spring in the Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
