Mary C. (Dunbar) Greenwood

Whitehall: Mary C. Greenwood 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday November 12, with her family by her side.

She was born on August 8, 1933, in Whitehall, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Troy) Dunbar.

Mary was a Graduate of the Whitehall Jr. Sr. High School and a lifelong resident of Whitehall. 

Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and dear friends.

She had and unwavering faith in God and was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Angels Church and now the Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church of Whitehall

She worked for over 20 years for the Whitehall School district.

Besides her parents she is predeceased  by her brother John Dunbar.  Mary is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ray Greenwood, two sons Ray F. Greenwood and his wife Mary, Dan Greenwood and his wife Sue, Her daughter Jane Beaton, four grandchildren Nicole, Jeremy, Amanda and Christopher, her sister Anne Nichols, her brother Rev. Francis Dunbar, and several nieces and nephews. 

There will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday November 17, 2015 at 11:00am at the Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church in Whitehall with Rev. Rendell Torres, pastor, officiating.

Following the mass, interment will take place in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery on County Route 18, Whitehall.

A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow the interment to be held at Whitehall Elks Lodge #1491.

Pallbearers will be family members, Christopher Greenwood, Jeremy Beaton, Troy Nichols and Thomas Nichols.

The family has suggested that donations may be made in Mary’s name to the Memorial fund at Our Lady of Hope Church, 9 Wheeler Ave. Whitehall, NY 12887
