WHITEHALL: Michael J. Dannehy, 81, formerly of Whitehall, passed away on May 3, 2016 in the Washington Center in Argyle following a long illness.
Born in the Glens Falls Hospital on July 14, 1934, he was the son of the late John P. and Lorraine M. (King) Dannehy.
Michael was never married and he and his brother, John, lived together their entire lives.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1956 to 1958. He is a retired locomotive fireman with the Delaware and Hudson Railroad in Whitehall and was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen.
He was an avid downhill skier and along with his brother, John, frequented Killington Ski Area. He and his brother were well known by the staff on the mountain. He was also an excellent softball player.
He is survived by his brother, John P. Dannehy, who resides at the Washington Center Adult Home in Argyle and many cousins.
There will be no calling hours.
A graveside service will be conducted in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Whitehall at a later date.
