Peter Valastro Sr., 90, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
He was born in Whitehall, NY to Felix and Mary (Scialdone) Valastro on January 2, 1935. He married Betty Plude on August 17, 1958.
Peter attended Whitehall High School where he was proud to play with the undefeated football team for three years as a fullback. After high school, Peter joined the US Army and was stationed in Korea. His military occupation was mail processing, Troop Information and Education, Athletic and Recreation, Public Information Officer, Intelligence Reconnaissance Squad.
Peter was employed at Finch Pruyn for 34 years; 25 years as a Supervisor and three years as the Assistant Superintendent of the converting department. He retired in 1993.
Peter enjoyed yearly trips to Florida. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play baseball and wrestle. Peter loved fishing and watching the New York Yankees.
He is survived by his wife, Betty of 67 years; his children, Peter Jr. (Cecile), Michael, Jeffrey (Dina), Gregory (Pamela). Grandchildren Joshua, Noel, Nicholas, Marissa, Noah, Felicia, Jonathan, Gabrielle, Julieanna. Great grandchildren, Kyleigh, Wesley and Oliver. His brother, Fred (Ruth), and his sister Patti Bardo, sister-in-law Joan and several nieces and nephews.
Peter was predeceased in death by brothers Frank (Viola), Angelo (Yelly), Joe (Shirley), Dominic (Charlotte), Carmel, John; sisters, Louise (John) Gratton, Ann (Michael) Camillone, Jenny (Frank) Caruso, Rose (Sherrill) Hazelton.
At Peter’s request there will be no calling hours. Burial will take place in the spring at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
