Ronald F. Manell

Whitehall:  Ronald F. Manell, Sr. 69, went to be with the Lord on May 18, 2016.  He was the son of the late William (Bud) and Marilyn (Baldwin) Manell, and the son in-law of the late John and Tartza Behr.

Ron was an avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and fish. A habit that Deb was unable to break him of no matter how hard she tried. He also loved going metal detecting and would hide fake rare coins to mess with his friends. As many of them found out the hard way Ron loved to play practical jokes.

He loved golfing with his friends and had many holes in one at the Pole Valley Golf Course.  He also loved traveling with his wife.  They traveled across the country several times treasure hunting for rare gems and gold.

Ron was a member of the Whitehall American Legion Post 83 and a US Navy Vietnam War Veteran.

Besides his parents and in-laws, he was predeceased by his brother in-law Dave Wurthman. Many aunts,uncles and cousins including his special hunting partners Joe, Micky and Macky, who shared his love of hunting.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years and best friend, Debra (Behr) Manell and his three children and their spouses, Cindy and Louis Lee, Jr., Ronald Jr. and Tammy Manell, and Robbin Jean Manell.  He also left behind Zach, Gabi and Oscar his furry four-legged children.

Ron was a grandpa to five grandsons, Jordan LaCroix, Dylan and Trey Lee, and Steven and Nicholas Manell.

Ron leaves behind eight siblings and their spouses, Butch and Pauline Manell, David Manell, Shirley and Robert Belden, Gary and Barb Manell, Sandy and David Walsh, Debbie and Randy Martell, Christine Wurthman, Tommy Manell and brother and sister in-law, John and Cherrie Behr and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and family may pay their respects on Monday, May 23, 2016 from 1:30 – 3:30 pm and 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Jillson Funeral Home, Inc., 46 Williams St., Whitehall, NY.  American Legion Post 83 will conduct a Legionnaire Service at 7:45 pm.

Funeral Service will be held at the Whitehall United Methodist Church, Greenmount Cemetery Lane, Whitehall, NY on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 11:00 am with the Pastor Scott Rogers officiating.

Full military honors will be conducted by the Whitehall American Legion Post 83 following the church service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in Ron’s name to the Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Rd., Kanab, UT 84741.

A time of fellowship and refreshment will follow the service at the Whitehall Methodist Fellowship Hall.
