Whitehall-Roy E. Rich, 84, a former resident of Pike Street, passed away on July 5, 2024 in The Pines at Rutland Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, following a long illness.
He was born on April 4, 1940, in Whitehall, the son of the late Gorman and Jenny Hilder Rich.
Roy was a Conductor on the Delaware and Hudson Railroad and the CP Railroad in Whitehall and retired after many years of service.
He was a United States Army veteran and served in the Vietnam War from 1963 to 1965 and then was honorably discharged. He was a long-time member of the Whitehall American Legion Post 83 of Whitehall.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by an infant daughter Amie.
Roy is survived by his two sons Steven Rich, Kenny Rich and his wife Melissa, three grandchildren Amie, David, Austin and One Great Granddaughter Brianna.
A graveside service will be held on Friday July 12, 2024, at 2 PM with full military honors conducted by the American Legion Post 83 in Greenmount Cemetery in Whitehall.
After the service there will be a time of fellowship at the American Legion Post 83 on Main Street in Whitehall.
