Whitehall-Russell L. Brown (Russ), 72, of Whitehall, New York, passed away unexpectedly on May 26, 2026, at his home in Whitehall. He was born in Glens Falls, New York on November 12, 1953, the son of the late Lloyd H. and Jean F. (Greenwood) Brown. Russ was a life-long resident of Whitehall.
He is survived by his wife Sherri Brown, daughter Sara Brown and stepson, Heath Ingleston (Erin) and grandchildren, Chuan Reyes (Tiger Devin), Lyla Jones and Leo Ingleston.
He is survived by his siblings, Thomas Brown (Christine), Nancy Brooks-Smith (Keven), Judy Benjamin, Christine Hoagland (Jason), and Sisters-in-law Trish Brown (John) and Nancy Hughes; Brothers-in-law Neil Hughes (Aprillynn) and Christopher Hughes (Carrianne); nieces and nephews, Mandy Hayes (Anthony), Kerri Monroe (Khanti), and Ryan Brown (Priscilla), Jodi Austin (Greg), and Stephen Brooks, Kaitlin Goodman (Mark), Ryan Smith (Tiz), Brendan Smith (Bridgette) Eric Brown and Lauren Englert (Mike); Timothy Scribner (Courtney), Kelsy Benjamin and Blake Benjamin, Justin Hoagland (Emily) and Josh Hoagland (Logan), and Brandon Hughes (Samantha) and Jayden Hughes.
Along with his parents he is predeceased by his brother Timothy E. Brown and brother-in-law Stephen J. Brooks.
Russ was a loving father, grandfather, husband and brother. Throughout his life, he was devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren whom he adored. Russ was known for his unique woodworking craftsmanship, artistic abilities, and his general know-how and ingenuity to fix anything. He had a wealth of knowledge when it came to working on motorcycles, boats and cars. Russ was an incredibly hard worker spending many years working with his father in their refuse business, Skyline in Fair Haven, Vermont, and he loved landscaping and working in his yard. Russ brought beauty to everything he touched, and he will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
As per Russ’s request, there will be no calling hours. Burial will be at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Whitehall on June 1, 2026.
