Whitehall: Shirley T. Greenwood, 80 of County Route 10, passed away on Friday October 30, 2015 at Glens Falls Hospital due to health conditions with her husband and children by her side.
She was born on September 27, 1935 in Florence, Vermont, the daughter of David and Dorothy (Senecal) Rodd.
She enjoyed doing ceramics, loved lawn sales, doing puzzles and her annual trip to Tupper Lake. She also loved decorating for all the holidays especially for Christmas. Many people saw and enjoyed the decorations as they went by her house starting Thanksgiving night.
She was employed in her early years at the Fair Haven outlet and later retired as a school bus driver for the Whitehall Central School District.
Besides her parents she is predeceased by her daughter Sheila and a brother Joseph Rodd.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years John (Sonny) Greenwood of Whitehall. Three daughters, Sharron Crouch and her husband Fred of Granville, NY, Pamela Williams and her fiancé Ken Saunders of Rupert, Vermont, Dorothy Rozell of Whitehall, a son John Greenwood and his fiancé Christina of Whitehall, a sister Patricia Parizo of Bennington, Vermont, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter, several nieces, nephews and her beloved dog Sophie and Blacky the cat.
There will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted on Tuesday November 3, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church in Whitehall with Rev. Rendell Torres, pastor, officiating.
Following the mass, interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Greenmount Cemetery Lane, Whitehall.
Time of fellowship and refreshments will follow the interment at her son John’s home on Upper Turnpike Road, Whitehall.
