Hudson Falls/Whitehall – Stanley Norman Austin,71, of 32 Stone School House Road passed away Thursday December 24 at his home after a long and courageous battle with Alpha 1. He was born November 4, 1949 in Ticonderoga, NY to Hanford and Doris (Johnson) Austin. Stan grew up on the family farm in Whitehall, NY and graduated in 1968 from Whitehall Central School.
Even though he farmed for several years, he was a mechanic at heart and could fix anything that needed a wrench or a welding rod. Stan also enjoyed gardening and carpentry, but one of his greatest joys was his adventures traveling in his RV with his loving wife, Lee, and their dogs. Stan’s hobby was buying equipment that needed a little tender loving care and making it useful again with his mechanical ability. He was admired and respected by many.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents, son Clayton Austin, second wife Janice Austin and brothers Donald and Kenneth Austin. He is survived by his beloved wife and soulmate of 18 years Lee McClure, beloved son Thomas (April) Austin and grandchildren Levi and Claire of Greenville, South Carolina and stepson David Austin of Whitehall.
