WHITEHALL – Theresa “Tress” Eagan passed away peacefully at Albany Medical Center on Thursday, June 13, 2024. Tress was born November 29, 1941 to Owen and Alice (Moore) Lavin in Whitehall, NY and lived there most of her life.
Tress was the proud mother of 7 sons. She could be tough on them, but she would fight you to the death if you gave them a hard time! She loved being the center of attention and really knew how to light up a room. She loved to socialize, laugh, have a drink now and then, and enjoyed a good cigarette. You never had to wonder what Tress thought about something; she would tell you straight! She was feisty and always lived life on her own terms.
Tress loved to travel, and she found a kindred spirit in her partner Ben. They took many car trips throughout New England, New York, Pennsylvania, and Canada. They would just pack up and hit the road. They even rafted down the Hudson River when they were in their sixties. She especially loved going to the Tulip Festival in Albany and looked forward to it every year when she was younger. Tress was always game for a road trip or an adventure.
Tress was predeceased by her parents, her companion of 25 years, Benjamin Palmieri, her husband, Bernard Eagan II, her infant sons Peter and Paul, her son Timothy Eagan and his wife Ruth, her son Joseph Eagan, her son, Christopher Eagan, her grandson, Tyler Eagan, her siblings Owen (Barbara) Lavin, Frank (Susan) Lavin, Vincent Lavin, Peter Lavin, Helen (Gordon) Harcourt, Jane (Edward) Anderson Sr., and Alice Glen.
She is survived by her sons, Bernard Eagan III (Julie) and Arthur Eagan, her daughter-in-law, Joanne Eagan, her grandchildren, Laura Walker, Ashley Eagan (Tom Bushman), Vanessa Eagan, Riley (Rob) Ballard, Joellen (John) Drost, Justin Eagan (Sandra Ventura), Jessika Erickson and Genevieve (Sam) Holder and her great-grandchildren, Autumn Walker, Karmela Mendez, Karson Ballard, Amelia Ballard, Jadyn Drost, Haley Drost, Jace Drost, Kara Drost, Cora Drost, Rosalie Eagan and Aeron Hollis, her siblings, George (Terry) Lavin, Richard (Connie) Lavin, Celia (Richard) Shumack, and Susan (Thomas) Howard, her sisters-in-law Jane Lavin and Linda Lavin, as well as many nieces, nephews and others.
The family would like to thank the staff of Albany Medical Center for their care and comfort during Theresa’s last days. They would also like to thank the staff of Adirondack Manor who made it possible for Tress to live independently for the last 2 years.
A graveside service will be held June 29, 2024 at 11:00 a.m, at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, County Route 18, in Whitehall. The service will be followed by a celebration of life at the home of her son Bernie at 14687 State Route 22, Dresden, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Skenesborough EMS in Whitehall, New York.
