Whitehall: Wilbur Francis Rozell, 90, of County Route 12, passed away at his home on
Sunday, August 31, 2025, following a brief illness.
He was born March 13, 1935, in Fair Haven, Vermont, son of the late Ira Bethuel and Alice Frances (Panoushek) Rozell. He grew up in Hampton, New York.
On October 12, 1957, he married Sandra Catherine Mitchison of Whitehall. They spent 58 wonderful years together until her passing on October 14, 2015.
Wilbur was a member of the National Guard, a 50-year member of Whitehall Grange 922, and a former member of Whitehall Lodge 1491 BPO Elks.
After many years of employment at Ciba-Geigy (formerly Hercules) in Queensbury, he established Wilbur Rozell Construction in the 1990s and performed countless building and repair projects for satisfied customers in Whitehall, Huletts Landing, and beyond for over twenty years. He often worked alongside his son John in this and another business endeavor, Rozell’s Dairy, which they operated in the 1970s and 1980s.
Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by brothers Robert, Theodore, Alan, and Kenneth Rozell; sisters Carol Rozell and Patricia Stark; brothers-in-law Thomas Mitchison, Larry McCarthy, and Robert Stark; sisters-in-law Joyce, Virginia, and Sandra Rozell; daughter-in-law Linda Rozell; and beloved dachshunds Jackie, Angel, Renee, and Poncho.
Wilbur is survived by his two sons, John (Elizabeth) Rozell of Whitehall and Rodney (Liliana) Rozell of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and Fort Worth, Texas; special niece Jill Jones (Larry Gooley) of Plattsburgh; sister Gail McCullen of Whitehall; sisters-in-law Eileen Rozell of Whitehall, Joyce McCarthy of San Carlos, California, and Lyn Mitchison of North Chatham; brother-in-law Raymond (Merry) Mitchison of North Chatham; grandchildren Stacy (Travis) Robetor of Whitehall, Ryne (Aysha Seedat) Rozell of New York City, Shelby (Stephen Waters) Rozell of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Tessie Rozell of Lubbock, Texas; great-grandchildren Josiah (Harley Hamblin) Lavin of Greenwich and Kyle and Alice Lavin of Whitehall; great-great grandchild Lainey Lavin of Greenwich; and several nieces, nephews,and cousins.
Arrangements were in the care of Jillson Funeral Home, 46 Williams Street, Whitehall, New York. A graveside service was held at the Greenmount Cemetery.
