Whitehall-William F. (Bill) Fisher, 79 of Skene Street passed away on March 8, 2017 at The Orchard Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Granville, New York.
William was born on July 24, 1937 in Whitehall, the son of Agatha (Cheney) and Francis Fisher.
Besides his parents William is predeceased by his sisters Frances Fisher, Dolores Fafard and his brother Lawrence Fisher. Also he will join his beloved dogs Benji, Bandit, Baggins, Springer and his adopted dog Bo.
He is survived by his brother Edgar Fisher and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Bill was an active member for ten years with the New York State National Guard. He held many jobs over the years until he was hired by New York Waterways in 1967, where he worked for 25 years until his retirement. He then started his own business, Bill’s Lawn Mowing Service where he had many customers.
In his early years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Audubon Society, Ducks Unlimited and a life member of the NRA, plus many other organizations.
He had a love for all animals and he especially loved to feed the squirrels and birds. Over the years he had taken in many strays and recently a cat that he named Fluffy.
He loved the games of chance in hopes of buying that winning ticket. He also loved an early morning coffee at the store with his friends and to hand out Christmas cards and calendars to all of his many friends.
Calling hours will be held on Monday March 13, 2017 from 5pm to 7pm. A service will be held at 7pm following calling hours at the funeral home, conducted by Reverend Rendell Torres, Pastor of the Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church in Whitehall.
