Dresden-William H. “Bill” Huntington, 93, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024. He was born in Dresden, NY October 20,1930 to the late Leonard and May (Martindale) Huntington. He married Rita Ann Briggs on October 25, 1950. Bill was employed for 37 years by the New York State Department of Transportation and served honorably for 29 years with the New York State National Guard and was the last surviving Charter Member of the Dresden Volunteer Fire Company.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his step-father (Harley Damp); 11 siblings – George, Wesley, Gladys, Clarissa, Leonard, Viola, Grace, Dorothy, Scotty, Kathrine, Evelyn; his in-laws Albert and Marjorie Briggs; and daughter-in-law Barbara Huntington.
He is survived by his wife (Rita); sister Mildred Mattison; 7 children (spouses) - William K.B. (Diane), Eric (Alice), Deborah, Patrick, Michael, Thomas, and Nathaniel (Nancy) Huntington; numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.
There will be no services. A burial will be conducted in the South Putnam Cemetery at a later time at the convenience of the family.
